The mission of the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM®) is to foster a renaissance of each people’s ancient tradition of infant massage. To promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education, and research so that globally parents, caregivers, and children are loved, valued, and respected throughout the world community.
The International Association of Infant Massage, Inc. was founded in the United States in the early 1980s. The purpose of the association was to recruit and train instructors for the public benefit of teaching parents and caregivers the theory, skills and techniques of parent-infant bonding through Infant Massage.
The International Association of Infant Massage (Instructors)(IAIMI®) was incorporated as 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit association California USA in 1986. The organization and its program gradually developed internationally. Infant Massage as was developed by IAIM, Inc. is now being practised in over 30 countries worldwide. Over 15,000 Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI®) have been trained in the United States.
